but that actually seems kind of fun. i have no idea what's involved in playing the game, but the painting and what not could be kind of amusing.
Out of curiosity, say a pair of people wanted to give the game a try, are there "starter decks" as there were in magic?
Well, in about forty days "Battle for Skull Pass", the 7th edition boxed game comes out. That'll be about $75 dollars, and has the rules, dice, templates, some scenery and two small forces of Dwarfs and Night Goblins.
Games Workshop has it's own stores here and there, not in Guelph of course, but in bigger cities, where you should be able to play a demo game. Better games stores might also have demo tables. There's a list of stores here I have to tell you, though, this hobby is really damn expensive. Plastic regiment boxes run about $50. Actually, for someone not familiar, the GW website would be pretty informative ca.games-workshop.ca. The online store there will show you the prices, and you can look at the different armies. With the goblins i have now, and the ones in the new game box, and a $55 Giant, my army will be about 1500 points. While smaller games do get played, 2000 is a good sixed army. Goblins are low points-per-model, so the armies tend to be massive hordes, but just remember how much you can end up spending, Even if you pick an army thatuses more expensive units. It does have it's moments, however. Painting is fun and relaxing, and it can be very satisfying to mass your hordes before you, or fire a cannon strait into the other guys hordes, or my personal favourite, toss a mushroom-crazed maniac with a rediculously huge flail into the other guys fancy, powerful knights, killing half of them and causing them to flee, ha ha, hahaha, BWAHAHAHAHA WAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!! ahem. cough. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
